ucson, Arizona – May 9, 2005 – Spectra-Physics, a Division of Newport Corporation and a world leader in reliable, high-power diode laser solutions, today introduced three new ProLite® diode laser products. These additions to the ProLite family include two 50W diode laser bars at 808 and 940 nm, and a new 25W 880 nm bar.

“These new diode laser bars have been designed and rigorously tested to ensure that they provide highly reliable power over tens of thousands of hours,” said Franck Leibreich, Director of Marketing for Diode Lasers, Spectra-Physics. “For 40 years Spectra-Physics has been a world leader in laser technologies, and today we produce hundreds of thousands of diode lasers annually. All of our manufacturing is done under one roof—we bring in the raw material, and we ship the finished product. This level of experience and expertise ensures high-quality, reliable diode laser products.”

ProLite 50W 808 nm and 940 nm bars are ideal for direct diode material processing applications such as industrial soldering, cutting, and welding, as well as aesthetic applications such as laser hair-removal and skin resurfacing. These lasers are also an excellent choice for pumping the higher power solid state laser systems used in metal-marking, semiconductor and research applications.

ProLite 880 nm bars serve as pumps for solid state lasers in specialized applications. The 880 nm wavelength offers greater thermal efficiency in systems where heat in the solid state gain medium limits conversion efficiency and overall system power.


Both conductively cooled and fiber coupled samples of each of the new Spectra-Physics diode laser bars are available immediately, and high volume quantities are available with standard lead times.
