Spectra-Physics, a Division of Newport Corporation, and a leading provider of diode-pumped solid state lasers, today announced the release of the Millennia Pro with a CW output power of 15 W at 532 nm. The new laser targets scientific and OEM markets that require high power, excellent beam quality and ultra-low noise specifications. Because higher power from the pump laser enables an extended wavelength spectrum and/or more power at specific wavelengths, the 15 W Millennia Pro laser is an ideal solution for Titanium:Sapphire (Ti:Sapphire) pumping.
“When we launched the original Millennia laser family in 1996, we knew that we had something very unique,” said Bruce Craig, Vice President and General Manager of the Spectra-Physics Lasers Division. “The Millennia was the first all-solid-state laser to offer multiwatt CW green output. With its ultra low noise and its inherent reliability, it became an overnight success and an ideal replacement for ion lasers. We are very excited to celebrate the 10 year anniversary of this product family and introduce our new high-power Millennia Pro because it demonstrates our ongoing commitment to meet the needs of our customers in even the most demanding applications.”

Spectra-Physics’ Millennia Pro 15 W expands the Millennia product line to higher power levels. It has excellent beam quality of TEM00, M2 <1.1. In addition, it has extremely low noise with power stability better than 1% and noise less than 0.04%. Designed as a drop-in replacement for other Millennia Pro lasers, it has the same reliability and footprint as earlier models. The Millennia Pro 15 W is CE certified and CDRH compliant.

Michael Kauf, Product Marketing Manager for Spectra-Physics, added, “Today, the Millennia Pro is found in most cutting-edge laser research labs. It is also the driving force behind the Spectra-Physics Mai Tai®, the leading laser for multiphoton imaging, which is the single largest
ultrafast application worldwide. In addition, it is used to pump the industry’s first mode-locked Ti:Sapphire laser, the Spectra-Physics Tsunami®, which is the most widely deployed commercially available ultrafast oscillator. Both the Mai Tai and Tsunami also serve as front ends for our cutting-edge amplifier systems. With a complete product line that delivers unsurpassed performance, backed by the most reliable ProLite® diode lasers available today, the future looks very bright for the Millennia Pro.”
