HBM now provides an inexpensive and reliable method to upgrade equipment for TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) use without replacing all of the existing hardware.
Older amplifier systems only need to have the connector plates replaced which is a relatively inexpensive option while amplifier modules can be given TEDS functionality by updating the firmware.
There are two options for upgrading the transducers. Where transducers with a fixed connection cable mounting are used the TEDS memory module can be integrated either using a sub-D connector or in a metal sleeve in the cable. The cables do not need to be changed when converting to TEDS.
HBM’s catman® family of software can access the sensor database provided there are no hardware changes. Components with TEDS functionality can be used with conventional components as needed.
TEDS enables the measuring amplifier to electronically read the central transducer characteristics from the transducer. The measuring amplifier then automatically applies the correct settings enabling measurement to start immediately.
Most new devices and individual components for the HBM MGCplus measuring amplifier system are available with TEDS functionality as standard.
