- Fast and Reliable: The TCC-100 Thermostatted Column Compartment uses large-area Peltier elements and a fan-based forced-air design for efficient cooling and heating. This design ensures fast equilibration upon start-up, after opening the front door, or after changing the set temperature. This design also prevents hot spots, and ensures homogeneous and stable temperatures throughout the entire compartment to guarantee maximum precision of retention times. The TCC-100’s efficient cooling and heating performance overcomes the problem of fluctuating retention times that are often associated with conventional column ovens. Maintaining a stable and constant temperature, whether at elevated or below ambient temperatures, is vital for precise retention times. The tower design allows for short capillary connections with autosamplers and detectors. This design minimizes gradient delay and dispersion and ensures short analysis times and sharp peaks. Summit “System Wellness" technology helps you detect small problems before they become big problems. It ensures optimal and reliable operation and minimizes downtime for service and maintenance. System Wellness functions in the TCC-100 monitor: - Limits for temperature and for Column-specific Variables (e.g., maximum number of injections, maximum pressure, expiration date) - Proper closing of the front cover - Proper functioning of all safety sensors
- Application Flexibility: With its extended temperature range, from 15 °C below ambient to 85 °C, the TCC-100 is ideally suited for a wide variety of HPLC applications that operate below, at, and above ambient temperatures. The column compartment provides room for up to three columns, a column-switching valve, and an eluent preconditioner. Maximum column length allowed is 30 cm. The TCC-100 ensures symmetrical, well-resolved, and sharp peaks at high temperatures. Running analyses at high temperatures has three main advantages. First, separations are faster, increasing sample throughput and reducing eluent costs. Second, the backpressure generated by the column is lower, reducing wear on pump motors, drives, seals, pistons, and valves. And third, higher temperatures usually increase peak resolution and separation efficiency. Unfortunately, inadequate thermostatting has the contrary effect. Conventional column thermostats are often incapable of thermostatting eluents and columns efficiently at high temperatures. This difficulty leads to temperature gradients in the column that cause reduced resolution and column efficiency and nonsymmetrical or split peaks. The TCC-100 provides superior performance because it combines two proven technologies: (1) fan-based forced-air heating and cooling for fast temperature equilibration and homogenous temperatures throughout the compartment and (2) eluent preheating for efficient thermostatting at high temperatures. Only this unique combination allows you to profit from the advantages of running samples at high temperatures. A fully thermostatted switching valve, mounted inside the column compartment, is an option that adds application flexibility. Two different switching valves are available: the 6-port, 2-position valve can be used to switch automatically between two columns, whereas the 10-port, 2 position valve allows the use of columns in tandem mode. Shorten cycle times and increase sample throughput by equilibrating one column while the other one is used for analysis.
- Usability: Easy access to the columns and switching valve minimizes downtime. Temperature controls on the front panel allow quick temperature programming. Even in a well-illuminated laboratory, typical gray-on-gray LCD displays can be hard to read, unless you are standing directly in front of the instrument. For this reason, the TCC-100, like all other Summit HPLC modules, displays important parameters with bright LEDs that are clearly visible—even from a distance.
Easy Compliance with Regulatory Rules. The TCC-100 column identification system is a powerful feature for improved documentation that greatly enhances compliance with regulatory rules. To use the column identification system, a small memory chip card is clipped onto the column. When the column is placed in the oven, the card is inserted in the chip card reader. The card accompanies the column for its lifetime and carries all relevant information such as column ID, packing material, number of injections performed, etc. Dionex AutoQ TM Equipment Qualification routines automate otherwise time-consuming qualification tasks. For the TCC-100, controlled by Chromeleon, you can perform Installation Qualification (IQ), Operational Qualification (OQ), and Performance Qualification (PQ) tests automatically.
