HBM’s latest multi-channel amplifier module, the ML801B, needs just one keystroke to load a transducer’s data, together with its correct settings, thanks to TEDS (Transducer Electronic Data Sheet) identification.
TEDS transducers have their data stored in digital format that is transferred electronically to an amplifier, enabling it to select the correct settings automatically, and start taking measurements immediately. Equipment using TEDS must conform to the IEEE P1451.4 standard that specifies the data format and the digital interface for the electronic datasheet.
HBM has developed its TEDS transducers so that no additional cable is needed and the wiring remains unchanged.
By using the ML801B, the number of sub-channels can be reduced to 8, 4 or 2 as needed, giving sampling rates of 2400Hz, 4800Hz and 9600Hz. All channels are measured synchronously and simultaneously at a signal bandwidth of up to 1 kHz.
HBM has developed a number of connection boards for use with its TEDS transducers. These include: • AP814Bi – A connection board for strain gage (SG) quarter bridges in 3-wire circuit; • AP815i – A connection board for SG half and full bridges and SG quarter bridges in 4-wire circuit, and; • AP418i – A connection board for current-fed, piezo-electric transducers (so-called ICP transducers).
