mso jena GmbH, from Jena, Germany, a specialist supplier for interference optical components, offers the manufacture of customized interference coating designs. In close contact with optical engineers at manufacturers of optical systems, mso jena develops interference coatings for applications demanding spectral properties beyond the performance of standard optical components.

Typical tailor-made products are interference coatings for satellite based multi-spectral cameras. The spectral filter performance is adjusted to the sensitivity range of Si-Photodiodes and is realized by an all-dielectric coating without the use of absorbing glasses.

Particular performance characteristics of customized filters are steep filter edges in combination with broad-band blocking better than OD5. Because the blocking is realized by the interference coating only, the substrate material and its dimensions can be chosen with high flexibility.

Further innovative solutions are UV filters with blocking by reflection, thus particularly suitable for high power light sources used in UV microscopy.

mso jena manufactures interference optical components by plasma ion-assisted deposition under clean room conditions. The equipment allows prototype manufacturing as well as serial production. The deposition technology guarantees the long term stability of the spectral performance even under high environmental loads.

The coating design is supported by sophisticated thin film design software and by comprehensive practical experience of the design specialists. For each application a individual solution is developed and optimized under consideration of cost effectiveness and reliability.
