To get the ultimate in performance from any motorised scanning stage you need a perfectly matched motor controller. Even with a perfectly matched pair, such as the ProScan range of stages and controllers from Prior there is still room for improvement. Every stage from Prior is manufactured to extremely tight tolerances but despite this they all have their own unique properties. With ordinary scanning stage systems for microscopes this is where the story ends, the controller compromises by using the same parameters to drive every stage. Not bad but not perfect, a little like your favourite clothes retailer only stocking one size!
Prior Scientific have recently introduced a system of Intelligent Communications to their ProScan range of stages. This means all of the unique data which defines the characteristics of the stage and ensures a perfect fit with the motor controller is stored, permanently available with the stage itself. Whenever this stage is driven with any H30 ProScan controller the parameters are automatically interrogated and utilised to give perfect performance.
