Since its creation, SMP has manufactured test benches allowing products qualification at the end of satellite lines, either during factory integration phases, or after launching ; the company has also manufactured test benches for qualified data transmission and reception ground stations.SMP also has simulation benches allowing validation of transmission channels.

The process for test benches characteristics design is not the same for all the projects :

Design performed by the customer, who provides precise specifications.

Design performed by SMP on the base of customer's requirements.

According to its functions, a test bench can integrate :

Commercial equipments.

SMP standard equipments.

Specific equipments developed by SMP.

The test bench can works either manually or automatically, assisted by computer and its software developed by SMP. Measurement results can be stored on hard disk, analyzed with regard to predefined tolerances or processed with regard to a jig during production utilization.
On request, the bench can operate in one or more automatic calibration modes, allowing measurement results validation and alarms automatic control.
Test benches developed by SMP are generally used to perform and validate the following measures :

Voltage, current measure
Power measure
Amplitude wave measure
Group propagation time measure
Doppler measure
Reception quality
Bit error rate
