Clear-spin® has 2 sizes of tube carrier:
18 place 1.5/2.2ml, 24 place 0.5ml range Tube adaptors for the 24 place rotors accommodate 0.25ml
The tube carrier is a flat plastic disc with petals. Each petal accommodates a tube. When the rotor is spinning the petals bend upwards holding the tubes at the same angle as a fixed angle rotor.
The pellet is produced at the same point as a fixed angle rotor.
The tube carrier load must be balanced - all tube positions need not be filled - just like current rotor technology.

Sample IDs can be written on the flat surface adjacent to the tube.
Tubes can remain in the tube carrier throughout all sample manipulations.

In addition:
The Clear-spin® tube carrier allows up to 24 tubes to be loaded and unloaded in a single action. A saving in time.
The less time to load and unload the more users can share the machine.
In student practicals, a class of 20 students each issued with a tube carrier can share a single Clear-spin® at the front of the class.
Every time tubes are transferred from rack to rotor the risk of confusion increases. The tube carrier is ideal for labs rigorously controlled by GLP and traceability procedures.
4 or 5 samples can represent a life's work! Traceability is essential and a comfort. Tie this in with the possibility of safely recovering say 4 out of the 5 tubes after 1 has failed in the transparent, removable rotor assembly and the benefit is clear
