UHV Flexure Slit Width: continuously tunable from 5 to 4000-microns Accuracy: 10% of any setting Width Resolution: 1-micron Jaw Parallelism: 1-micron Jaw Length: 1 to 40 mm, continuously adjustable Manual or step motor drive systems Electrical isolation of jaws (optional) Active or heat sink cooling (optional) 6" all metal seal mount
The McPherson precision UHV flexure slit delivers a very clean design with no bearings and no sliding surfaces. Easily calibrated widths and removable micrometers facilitate baking. Milled from a single piece of stock this flexure drive is good looking, lightweight and extremely accurate.
McPherson engineers revamped a legacy design by combining a pair of flexures and an additional flexure mechanism to a single slit plate. The additional flexure allows one to easily set slit jaw parallelism. An optionally mechanism for slit rotation, or yaw, about a fixed center is also available.
Cooled slit jaws for this design use wire braid and massive, or actively water-cooled heat sinks, to transfer heat. Directly water cooled masks or occulters can be integrated. Electrically isolated slit jaws with wiring and a feed through for bias and current monitoring (for beam position, etc.) are available. Augment your purchase with McPherson slit accessories such as view port adapters, phosphor coated visualization flags, and mounting platforms.
