Goodfellow, the world's leading supplier of small quantities of metals and materials, has announced the availability of ultra-thin (0.0007 millimeters / 0.0000275 inches) PET film for use by design engineers and model makers. This clear, strong, and dimensionally stable material is rapidly gaining in popularity as window material for models. The film has good gas barrier properties and good chemical resistance (except to alkalis). Traditionally, PET film of more typical thickness (from 0.0009 millimeters / 0.0000354 inches to 0.5 millimeters / 0.020 inches) has been used in the manufacture of electrical capacitors, in graphics, as film base, and for recording tapes.
