DESCRIPTION: During the manufacture of automobile parts or parts for the building industry, the plates of glass from the float glass process are cut, in several stages into rectangles or trapeziums. These rectangles or trapeziums are either the shape of the final part or are as close as possible to it. For parts intended for the building industry, cutting defects (broken corners, points, notches, undulations) are a nuisance on all edges of the part. For primary blanks destined for automobile parts, only those touching on the useful section or that alter the referencing are a nuisance. In the automobile industry the ideal emplacement for the VCC 2200 is just before the cutting out of the primary blanks. In the building industry it is just after the final cutting.
Characteristics of the products to be controlled : - Flat glass - Glass tint and transmission : irrelevant - Glass, maximum width : 2.2 m (more if required) - Glass, maximum length : 3.2 m (more if required) - Thickness : 1 to 12 mm - Minimum size of outline fault : 2 x 2 mm - Maximum conveyor speed 80 m/mn Location: The detection principle being based on the light reflection of the glass, the system is located above the glass in the middle of the conveyor. The regularity of the glass’s movement is, in fact, optimal at this point. Other constraints regarding the location are connected to the height of the camera and the access required to it for adjustment and maintenance purposes. The camera support and the lighting, rugged and independent of the conveyor structure ensure the systems protection from parasitic vibrations.
Acquisition and processing chain: - LORD Ingénierie CCD line scan camera CNL5150V - LORD Ingénierie acquisition board ASL 8220 - LORD Ingénierie real-time processing board ATL8220 - Pentium industrial PC - Standard software with parameters according to customer’s requirements Lighting : - Light box using standard fluorescent tubes - Specific power supply for fluorescent tubes Support : - Gantry sized adapted to conveyor dimensions - LORD Ingénierie protective casing - LORD Ingénierie camera angle adjustment system Contour control principle: To evaluate the whole contour of a part with only one line scan camera, the system uses the length and the advancing movement of the glass on the conveyor to reconstitute the whole outline. All of this information is then processed once the glass has completely passed through. This establishes good control of the conveyoring of the plate with regards to the regularity of conveyor speed as much as the exactitude of the data translation and ensures the systems performance..
