CEDIP Infrared Systems, specialists in thermal IR camera systems, have announced new technical literature describing their popular RUBY night vision camera.

Designed specifically to meet the rigours of outdoor use RUBY features high-resolution imagery, lightweight handheld design, integral battery power, interchangeable lenses. The camera features simple menu controls driven via easy to access ergonomic buttons. The binocular display enables comfortable viewing in all ambient lighting conditions. A unique combination of leading edge performance, rugged yet lightweight construction and ease-of-use is drawing considerable interest from user applications including criminal investigation, coastal surveillance, border patrol, force protection and homeland security.

Benefiting from the latest uncooled microbolometer focal plane array technology, operating in the 8-12 µm waveband, the high performance night vision camera uses advanced image processing algorithms to provide leading-edge sharp and clear images. Using a focal plane array of 320x240 pixels the RUBY camera offers a thermal sensitivity of less than 80mK meaning that an intruder can be detected at a typical range of 1 Km. Small and lightweight in design the operational utility of the RUBY is also aided by binocular viewing and the high brightness and contrast of the IR image display.
