aXcontroller combines the functions of a PLC (Programmable Logic Controller), an Operator Panel and a Data Acquisition System. Moreover this powerful device bridges the gap between the harsh environmental conditions of industrial floors and the IT-world. On the one hand aXcontroller is characterized by a rugged industrial design (robust aluminum enclosure, fan-less and diskless architecture, unparalleled EMI performance), on the other hand it is an "IBM-compatible" computer fitting homogeneously in today's IT-networks. These features make aXcontroller the ideal solution for "controlling" so-called "process cells" which operate mainly autonomously yet are embedded in highly complex processes. Typical areas of application are: discrete batch-based manufacturing processes, building automation, utility automation.
