aXdeviceS realizes a modular I/O-System, which is physical identical with the Siemens ET200S system. However, the PROFIBUS adapters run the aXdevice software (respectively firmware). The aXdevice Technology allows the distribution of complex control programs onto one centralized and many remote units. In this respect the centralized control program runs within the automationX Server Software, whereas the decentralized portions execute within the PROFIBUS Adapters.
